Welcome to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) here at IBS!
The IBPYP programme is offered to students from ages 3-12 (PreK - Grade 5) at IBS. It was developed based on best practice and a wide range of educational systems to create a challenging and engaging curriculum that offers an international education focusing on the needs of the whole child. This program uses guided inquiry as its main method of learning.
The aim of the PYP is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. At IBS, we want the students to learn to become inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced and reflective.(IB Learner Profile attributes)
In all areas of the school, the teachers and staff model these attributes. Learning experiences are created so that the students are able to develop these characteristics. The Learner Profile attributes helps teachers and students establish goals, plan units of inquiry, and assess performance.
All IB schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that IBS believes is important for our students.
