Counselling
The primary role of the school counseling department is to promote and support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. Counselors provide professional guidance during periods of difficulty or stress and serve as an initial point of support in addressing challenges that may impact a student’s learning or overall well‑being. Counseling services may be delivered through individual sessions or small group interventions, depending on the student’s needs.
School counselors actively observe and engage with students across a range of settings including classrooms, recreational areas, and physical education sessions to gain a comprehensive understanding of their behavior, performance, and developmental needs. When a student is referred for counseling, the counselor consults with key adults involved in the student’s life, such as teachers, parents, learning support staff, and administrators. This collaborative approach ensures the development and implementation of an appropriate and effective intervention plan.
Counseling sessions are confidential and conducted with the utmost professionalism. Information shared by a student remains private unless there is concern regarding the safety of the student or others. The counseling environment provides a secure, respectful, and supportive space where students are encouraged to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns with confidence.
